A dog race in Alaska by Alazne

On 13th February race is run between Alaska and Canada and the name is: Yukon Quest and the participants this: huskis and the mushers.

Special transport:

Mushers have special trucks to transport their dogs.
The dogs have compartments in the truck.

A difficult race:

The dogs race 65 kilometres every day. It is a difficult race. When the dogs stop, a veterinarian
examines them.

The Yukon Quest:

The Yukon Quest is a sled-dog race in Alaska and Canada.
The mushers have eight to 14 dogs. They race dogs. They race 1,650 kilometres on snow and ice.

Dog bootees:

Dogs have special bootees.
The bootees protect the dogs from the cold.

Food and sleep:

The dogs stop to eat and sleep three times in 24 hours. They sleep on straw.
