Great Britain and the USA by Nora Jiménez


People from Britain and from the United States speak the same language but the countries are quite different.

Britain:
- London's taxis are big. There is room for five or six people.
- The British flag is called the "Union Jack". The British flag is a combination of the three flags of England.
- The Queen lives in Buckingham palace when she is in London. She has other places speends some time too, such as Windsor Castle.
- British money. The currency is pounds and pence. 100 pence are one pound.
- Football is one of Britains national sport.
- British food. The traditional and fast foos is fish and chips. In Britain there are chip shops. Shops with the food ready.
- Big Ben is the name of the bell in the tower of the Houses of Parlament in London.





USA.
- New York taxis are yellow. They can take a maximum four people.
- The American flag is called " The Stars and Stripes". This flag represents the fifty states.
- The US president lives and works in the White House. The White House is in Washington, the capital.
- American money. The currency is the dolar. There are 100 cents in a dolar.
- American football is a popular sport in the USA. Players wear protective clothing.
- American food is hamburgers. Some people eat three hamburgers a week. They love also Mexican food.
- The Statue of Liberty is on the Liberty Island in New York Harbour. It was a present from France to the USA in 1886.
