Hawaii is the USA´s 50th state. It´s first inhabitants came from Polynesia. Read all about these extraordinary islands.

A group of islands:

Hawaii is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. There are eight big islands. All of them are lots of volcanoes and mountains. The capital of the sate of Hawaii is Honolulu.

Animals in the sea:

Apart from many different types of fish, there are sea turtles, whales and dolphins in the sea around Hawaii.

The Hula dance:

The Hula dance is a traditional is Hawaiian dance. Flowers always form part a Hula dancer´s costume.

Surfing: a traditional sport:

In Hawaii are one sport traditional is the surfing. The sport started in Hawwai in 1905. Children in Hawaii start surfing when they are very young!

Canoeing: a national sport:

Another sport which is very popular in Hawaii is canoeing. It is Hawaii´s national sport. Hawaiians call it "paddling". There are lots of canoeing clubs in Hawaii.

The Haka:

Another traditional dance in Hawaiiis the "Haka", or war dance. The haka comes from Polynesian traditional. Hawaiians dance the haka before they go canoeing.

People from Britain and from the United States speak the same language but the countries are quite different.

Britain:
- London's taxis are big. There is room for five or six people.
- The British flag is called the "Union Jack". The British flag is a combination of the three flags of England.
- The Queen lives in Buckingham palace when she is in London. She has other places speends some time too, such as Windsor Castle.
- British money. The currency is pounds and pence. 100 pence are one pound.
- Football is one of Britains national sport.
- British food. The traditional and fast foos is fish and chips. In Britain there are chip shops. Shops with the food ready.
- Big Ben is the name of the bell in the tower of the Houses of Parlament in London.




USA.
- New York taxis are yellow. They can take a maximum four people.
- The American flag is called " The Stars and Stripes". This flag represents the fifty states.
- The US president lives and works in the White House. The White House is in Washington, the capital.
- American money. The currency is the dolar. There are 100 cents in a dolar.
- American football is a popular sport in the USA. Players wear protective clothing.
- American food is hamburgers. Some people eat three hamburgers a week. They love also Mexican food.
- The Statue of Liberty is on the Liberty Island in New York Harbour. It was a present from France to the USA in 1886.

• His family lives in the zoo. His parents are zoo keeppers.

The zoo has got 300 animals like pandas, birds...

• Rubys is a baby fox. Ruby hasn't got a mother. Ruby loves food and his favourite food is chicken.
